Disassembly Instructions - Draft

Sit Healthier Disassembly Guide

Follow our step-by-step guide to safely disassemble your Sit Healthier chair for moving, storage, maintenance, or replacement of components.

START DISASSEMBLY

Before You Begin

Before disassembling your chair, make sure you have enough space to work comfortably and safely. Clear the area and prepare a clean, flat surface where the removed components can be placed.

Helpful tip: Keep all screws, bolts, washers, and other hardware together so they are easy to locate when the chair needs to be reassembled.
Helpful tools: Depending on how tightly the components are fitted, you may find a rubber mallet or soft-face mallet and a penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 helpful when loosening tight metal connections.
Safety note: Use lubricant sparingly and only around appropriate metal connection points. Avoid spraying the gas cylinder, cylinder seals, or other areas where lubricant could interfere with the component's operation. Never strike the gas cylinder directly.

Chair Components

  • Seat & Mechanism — The saddle seat and attached mechanism, which are removed together as one assembly.
  • Gas Cylinder — The height-adjustable cylinder connecting the seat assembly to the chair base.
  • Chair Base — The five-star base that supports the gas cylinder and wheels.
  • Wheels — The wheels attached to the five-star chair base.

Step-by-Step Disassembly

STEP 01 — Remove the Seat Assembly
STEP 01

Remove the Seat Assembly

Place the chair on a stable surface. Carefully lift the seat together with the attached mechanism to separate the entire seat assembly from the gas cylinder. Set the seat assembly aside in a safe location.

If the connection is tight: Do not force the seat assembly. A rubber mallet or soft-face mallet may be used to gently tap around the metal connection point to help loosen the fit. Avoid striking the seat, mechanism, or gas cylinder directly.

STEP 02 — Remove the Gas Cylinder
STEP 02

Remove the Gas Cylinder

After removing the seat assembly, carefully separate the gas cylinder from the chair base. The connection may be tight, especially if the chair has been used for an extended period.

For a tight gas cylinder connection: Apply a small amount of WD-40 or another suitable penetrating lubricant around the metal connection between the gas cylinder and chair base. Allow the lubricant time to work before attempting removal. Wipe away any excess lubricant before continuing.
Important: Do not spray lubricant directly onto the gas cylinder's moving parts, seals, or inside the cylinder. Never puncture, cut, heat, or attempt to open the gas cylinder.
If the connection remains tight: Use a rubber mallet or soft-face mallet to gently tap the side of the chair base around the cylinder connection. Rotate the base as needed and continue working around the connection. Do not strike the gas cylinder directly and do not use a metal hammer.

Once loosened, carefully separate the gas cylinder from the chair base and place both components in a safe location.

STEP 03 — Remove the Wheels
STEP 03

Remove the Wheels

Carefully pull each wheel straight out from the chair base. Remove the wheels one at a time and place them together in a safe location.

If a wheel is difficult to remove: Gently rock the wheel back and forth while pulling it straight out. If necessary, a rubber mallet may be used carefully around the wheel connection to help loosen it. Avoid striking the wheel stem or chair base with excessive force.

STEP 04 — Separate & Store the Components

Separate & Store the Components

Once disassembly is complete, place the seat assembly, gas cylinder, chair base, and wheels in a safe location. Keep all hardware together so the chair can be reassembled when needed.

Disassembly Tips

  • Place the chair on a stable, level surface before beginning.
  • Keep all screws, bolts, washers, and other hardware together.
  • Do not force components apart, as this may damage the chair.
  • If a metal connection is difficult to loosen, apply a small amount of WD-40 or another suitable penetrating lubricant to the connection point and allow it time to work.
  • Use lubricant sparingly and avoid spraying the gas cylinder, seals, moving parts, or areas where lubricant could affect the chair's operation.
  • Use a rubber mallet or soft-face mallet when gentle tapping is needed to loosen a tight connection.
  • Never strike the gas cylinder directly and never use a metal hammer on the gas cylinder.
  • Do not puncture, cut, heat, or attempt to open the gas cylinder.
  • Remove the wheels carefully and keep them together.
  • Store all components in a safe location to prevent loss or damage.
  • If your chair includes additional features or components, refer to the product-specific instructions before disassembly.
